Implant Protective Occlusion
The selection of occlusal scheme for implant supported prosthesis is too broad. Most of occlusal concepts are based on natural dentitions and rearranged into implant systems with almost no alterations.
Occlusal overload and subsequent implant failure is a well accepted occurence. Occlusal as a factor related to crestal bone loss without leading directly to failure is even more contentious. Basics and consequences of biomechanical overload, bone mechanic and force directions as well as various occlusal schemes that make implant restorations successful and long lasting shoud be known. An optimum occlusal scheme in any implant supported prostheses will ensure success and longevity of the denture.
